OPA 90 Facility Response Plan for an Electric Utility
Matrix personnel prepared Facility Response Plans to meet the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA 90) regulations.
The OPA 90 regulations added a new layer of regulatory requirements to the existing spill prevention and countermeasure rules contained in 40 CFR 112. Matrix personnel worked with utility managers in determining appropriate spill response strategy (internal versus contracted), training needs, and response capabilities. |
Environmental Management System for Oil Exploration/Production Company
Matrix personnel conducted environmental audits as a basis for developing a comprehensive management system for a large oil E&P company.
The E&P company, which grew rapidly through acquisition, needed both corporate and compliance procedures to direct environmental activities occurring at domestic and international operations. Matrix personnel developed an Environmental Management Manual, at the corporate level, and Compliance Manuals, at each district level, as a blueprint for regulatory compliance. The EMS system was based on the ISO 14000 EMS model.
The benefits to the EMS system included:
- Improved Corporate/District communication.
- Clear management expectations and support.
- Minimization of liability to corporate officers.
