Indoor
Air Quality Studies, Florida Schools
|
|
|
Matrix
personnel have conducted numerous indoor air quality studies for
schools affected by Florida's hot, moldy environment.
|
The
studies generally began with an IAQ questionnaire to determine the nature
and timing of the symptoms being reported, followed by a thorough inspection
of the building's HVAC system, the complaint areas, and the suspect
sources. Tests were conducted to evaluate ventilation, suspect
pollutants, and comfort parameters. Matrix has
teamed with architects, engineers and other experts to develop solutions
to the problems identified in the IAQ studies.
The benefits
of the Matrix approach included:
-
Technically defensible IAQ results.
-
Reduction of liability for school administration.
-
Improvement of classroom IAQ.
-
Communication links with concerned parents.

Lead
and Asbestos Abatement at Veterans Affairs Hospital Building
 |
Matrix
provided Certified Industrial Hygienist oversight
for a VA roof replacement project with asbestos, lead paint, and
other occupational hazards. The work was conducted in accordance
with the VA's project specifications. |
The
CIH provided the initial asbestos and lead paint survey used to quantify
and locate the areas to be abated. The CIH then wrote the technical
specifications for performance of the work, and assisted in the bid
selection process. During the abatement, the CIH was in responsible
charge of air monitoring and project oversight to ensure compliance
with regulations and specifications.
The
benefits of these CIH services included:
-
Owner representation during abatement.
-
Early detection/resolution of problems.
-
Assurance that specifications are met.
